Gifted Education Advisory Committee

Virginia Regulations regarding the Education of Gifted Students state that local school systems may appoint a local advisory committee to review the Local Plan for Gifted Education annually and report on its effectiveness to the Superintendent and School Board.

The Gifted Advisory Committee (GAC) is composed of parents, teachers, administrators, professional staff, community members, and students who reflect the ethnic and geographic composition of the school division. The GAC meets 3 times each year.  Our purpose is 1) to review the local plan for the education of gifted students, including revisions annually, and 2) to determine the extent to which the plan for the previous year was implemented.

Meeting times are from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

The advisory consists of educators and parents. Members may serve one or more years, depending on the number of applicants.

The Gifted Advisory Committee consists of both educators and parents and members and may serve one or more years depending on the number of applicants.
