Culpeper County Public Schools hosted its annual division-wide Math 24 competition on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Floyd T. Binns Middle School, bringing together students from across the division for a day of engaging and fast-paced mathematical problem-solving.

The competition featured participants from all six elementary schools as well as both middle schools, with students in grades three through six demonstrating their ability to think critically and compute quickly. Known as “mathletes,” these students applied their knowledge of operations and number relationships to solve problems with accuracy and speed.

Math 24 is designed to strengthen mental math skills and promote fluency by challenging students to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to arrive at the number 24. Throughout the event, students competed in multiple rounds, working to earn top scores and advance to the final round of competition.

The final round featured the highest-performing mathletes competing for top honors, showcasing not only their mathematical abilities but also their focus and perseverance under pressure. The top four students at each grade level earned the opportunity to advance to the regional Math 24 competition, which will be held on May 14.

Culpeper County Public Schools congratulates all students who participated in this year’s competition for their hard work and dedication. The division extends its appreciation to Floyd T. Binns Middle School for hosting the event, as well as to the CCPS Gifted and Math Departments for organizing the competition and supporting students in their preparation.
