Newly elected members of the Culpeper County School Board were officially sworn in during a ceremony held Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Culpeper County Courthouse. The swearing-in included returning board members Elizabeth Hutchins and Betsy Smith, along with newly elected Jefferson District representative Toni Sheads. The oath of office was administered by Carson Beard, Culpeper County Circuit Court Clerk. Sheads was joined by members of her family as she took the oath, marking the beginning of her service to the Culpeper County Public Schools community.
Sheads replaces Deborah Desilets, who did not seek re-election after five years of service on the School Board. A longtime educator, Sheads served 34 years as a teacher, the majority of those years in Culpeper County Public Schools. Although she retired from CCPS in 2015, Mrs. Sheads has remained actively involved in the school division since her retirement.
The School Board will next convene for its annual Re-Organization of the Culpeper County School Board on Monday, January 12, 2026. During that meeting, the Board will approve its meeting calendar for 2026.
