Over the weekend of September 12–13, 2025, selected Culpeper County middle and high school choir students participated in the first-ever Tri-County Choir event, hosted by Kettle Run High School in Fauquier County. Modeled after the popular Tri-County Band, the two-day experience brought students together for intensive rehearsals on Friday and Saturday, culminating in a public concert on Saturday, September 13, at noon.
The middle school choir was under the direction of Andrew Kerper from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCPS), while the high school choir was directed by Lara Brittain, also from PWCPS. The event concluded with a powerful combined performance of “Let the River Run.”
Floyd T. Binns Choir Director Mary Flemming shared, “This was the first annual event. It was a great jumpstart to the year for our students as they dove straight into choral repertoire at the very start of the year to prepare for the event. Our students accomplished so much in a short period of time, enjoyed meeting students from other counties, and were proud of their concert performance.”
The event marked the beginning of a new tradition that gives local students the opportunity to expand their musical skills, connect with peers from neighboring school divisions, and showcase their talents in a collaborative performance setting.
