Mrs. Yost's students are working as scientists, exploring closed circuits, experimenting with insulators vs. conductors, and learning all about static electricity!

Thank you to all who came out to support Literacy Night last night! A great time was had by all!

Let's get ready for some fun, stallions! Next week is the clovers vs leprechauns SCA fundraiser. Which class will have the most clovers at the end of the week? See the attached picture for more information.

Mrs. Simms class created plane and solid shapes using marshmallows and toothpicks in math class yesterday . They also and counted the vertices, edges, faces, sides and angles of each shape!

We're not sure who is having more fun today! The students that are dressed up like teachers, or the teachers who are dressed up as students! Regardless, it's always a great day to be a stallion!

Students in Mrs. Dillon’s 3rd Grade class studied the civilization of Ancient Greece to learn how their contributions have influenced our world today! Their inventions and wisdom can be seen today in terms of democracy in government, columns in architecture, pottery in art, and even sports in our modern day Olympic Games! Along their study adventures, students excitedly designed and created many “artifacts” to deepen their understanding and knowledge, shared with you in our pictures!

Some Culpeper Middle School students who are part of the NJHS and most importantly, former stallions, visited our kindergarteners and first graders this morning. They were here to help us celebrate Read Across America Week . They did a great job reading to our youngest stallions. Thanks for stopping by! It's always good to see you!

Mrs. Gomez's kindergarteners have been learning about graphing and addition story problems. They are beginning subtraction story problems this week as well! To practice graphing, they lined up their shoes in graph style based on type of laces. And to practice subtraction, they played subtraction bowling yesterday to work on taking away and finding how many are left. Learning is fun with Mrs. Gomez!

Mrs. Koch's class celebrated World Pokemon Day last week. Students were each given five Pokemon cards to trade. They used their reading skills to learn more about each creature.
Then they used their communication skills and manners to practice exchanging cards with friends. What a fun way to practice reading and social skills.

Shout out to Ms. Rozwadowski for introducing a new club to our stallions, Sketch Club!
Sketch Club is a group of 4th and 5th grade students exploring art, trying new things, and having fun with friends. Taking time to draw or doodle can help us relax and focus. A sketchbook can become a personal collection of drawings and ideas. Last week the students learned how to build Zentangle patterns and use a magical blending tool!

Mr. Dugger visited Mrs. Koch's class yesterday to teach them how to code Beebots. They used their knowledge of place value to code the Beebots to go to the correct numbers on the mat. Then Mr. Dugger tried to the convince the class that he was better than Mrs. Dugger, but they didn't fall for that! 😂

Yowell is excited to announce that the Culpeper Literacy Council will be at our Reading Night on March 6th! Check out their flyers for more information on resources and classes they offer - and don't forget to swing by their table on Reading Night.

Mrs. Malone's students learned about balance scales and practiced balancing a "scale" that they made out of a dixie cup and tongue depressor with conversation hearts.

Penguin problems!? Mrs. Thornhill’s class practiced addition facts by creating their very own story problems. These penguins ate plenty of fish!

Save the date, Stallions! Join us on the evening of March 6th from 5:00 - 6:30 PM for a Pajama Reading Party! It's going to be a great time!

Mrs. Vasil's 3rd grade class were detectives trying to solve math mysteries with their buddies. They did multiplication, 3 digit addition/subtraction and word problems as they tried to figure out "whodunit". As they finished their first set of mystery clues, they received their next clue to narrow down who stole the candy. The students had so much fun trying to race the other teams to see who could solve the clues first!

Mr. Koch's class is actively engaging with probability concepts using the Smartboard. Students are interacting with digital tools to explore and demonstrate their understanding of probability in a hands-on, dynamic way.
