Our 4th graders had an incredible field trip this week as they stepped back in time to explore local history at the Graffiti House and Brandy Station Battlefield!
Students learned about the Battle of Brandy Station, including the important soldiers who played key roles in the battle. Students became “history detectives” as they identified mystery soldiers to match descriptions to historical photographs of each soldier.
At the Graffiti House, students discovered the rich history of the building and examined the fascinating graffiti left behind by soldiers who once stayed there. They loved seeing the different markings and learning how each one helps tell the story of the past.
It was a wonderful learning experience that brought Civil War history to life for our students right here in Culpeper!

Students in Mrs. Wheeler’s class practiced identifying and building with polygons by creating spring bunnies and flowers, combining math and creativity in a fun, hands-on way.
Ella Campbell from the Future Educators Academy helped support students during the bunny craft. She has been working with Mrs. Wheeler’s class as a practicum student this semester, and students always enjoy the days she is with us!

Lucky Learning in First Grade!
Mrs. Clark’s class worked together to solve a St. Patrick’s Day Escape Room to help hide the leprechaun’s gold! Students also put their STEM skills to the test by designing their own leprechaun traps. That sneaky leprechaun still got away! Maybe next year we will catch him!

To celebrate Mrs. Kearney's birthday, some of her 3rd grade students colored cakes and "sprinkled" their UFLI words on top as decorations! First, we say the word. Then, we tap out the sounds we hear. Next, we use our white boards to write the letters for the sounds we hear. Finally, we use our fun pens to write our words on the cake! We all got a sweet treat at the end!

We loved having members of the NJHS from Culpeper Middle School visit yesterday to read with our youngest Stallions in honor of Read Across America Week! 📚🐎
It was especially nice to see some of our former Stallions back in the building sharing their love of reading with our students. The little ones were so excited to listen to stories and spend time with their middle school role models.
Thank you to these wonderful students for taking the time to come visit and make the day so special for our readers. We appreciate you! 💙

Mrs. Beard’s class learned about influential African Americans during Black History Month. Students learned about inventors, singers, and important historical figures who made contributions and inspired change including a brave first grader named Ruby Bridges. The boys and girls even got to listen to and dance to some popular and classic tunes.

To honor and celebrate Black History Month, Mrs. Wheeler’s third grade class learned about famous African Americans in meaningful and engaging ways—through math word problems, sentence corrections, and exploring a selection of books on Epic. After reading several books, students picked the person they found most interesting and made a Google Slides presentation to share with their classmates. They put so much pride and effort into their work, and it truly shows!
