
Mrs. Vasil’s 2nd grade class has been learning about set fractions this week. They searched around the room to solve set fractions on their clipboards.

Students in Ms. Heaney's fourth grade reading class read a passage about blizzards and then did an interactive activity where they threw cottony soft snowballs around the room (zone A, B, C, D) to reflect their answer choices. The answers with the biggest snow pile were discussed first! ❄️ that was SNOW much fun!

Mrs. Woods’ 2nd graders are learning fractions in math this week and working hard on fractions of a set.

1st grade students had music class all about snowmen last week! They sang “Once there was a Snowman” and even melted all over the music rug! Then they got to build their own snowman and name it!

Third grade students always have fun with creative and engaging learning activities. Recently, Mrs. Wheeler's students had the opportunity to show off their knowledge of related multiplication and division facts while creating a charming snowman. Depicted on the snowman's buttons are multiplication set models of the fact written on the scarf, with the complete set of related facts at the bottom.

Students in Mrs. Sodano's fourth grade class are learning about the Declaration of Independence. They made foldables to remind themselves of all the important aspects of this significant document.

Mrs. Hoover's students are preparing for the WIDA Access testing that begins on January 22. They have been busy practicing their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills so they can show what they know on testing day!

All of our students have really been enjoying Mrs. Houck's gymnastics stations in PE. It is amazing how willing they are to try new things! Maybe some future Olympic gymnasts are among us! Keep having fun, stallions!

Mrs. Kearney's 2nd and 3rd graders are working hard in their UFLI class. Today we practiced spelling words by changing one letter at a time. The 2nd graders got to come up to the board and show the class how to spell each new word. 3rd Grade got to use their white boards to practice.







Mrs. Noel's reading students are working hard to spell words. This is a tough concept! It involves learning letter names and sounds (phoneme), then attaching them to the letter’s image (grapheme), and then they must learn to blend sounds into words. In this class we’re now building words with 4 and even 5 sounds. Students should feel proud of the work they’re doing!

Lots of fun things are happening in the art room this week! 1st grade students are using one of their favorite materials - paint sticks! They are working on a project inspired by a contemporary artist from Switzerland. 2nd graders are using chalk to create the northern lights and will add a polar bear to their work! 4th graders are learning a few new watercolor techniques!






Due to the forecast of inclement weather, all CCPS activities scheduled for Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7, 2024 are canceled.
Friday night activities will continue as scheduled.


Yesterday in Ms.Walker’s reading class, the students learned about Holidays Around the World. The class read a book that explained a country and what holiday it celebrates during this time. Then the students made a Happy Holidays Tree.




Second Graders in Mrs. Simms class had a Grinchy celebration today. They did ALL things Grinch today, learned about kindness and growing the Grinch’s heart, and wrote about what they would do to make the Grinch grin! They finished the day building a sleigh to carry presents up Mount Crumpit. What fun!
