More than 100 third-grade students from A.G. Richardson and Pearl Sample Elementary Schools recently visited Eastern View High School for a hands-on environmental learning experience designed and led by EVHS students.

Held on Wednesday, March 25 and Friday, March 27, 2026, the event was organized by Eastern View’s newly formed chapter of the Science National Honor Society. High school students facilitated interactive stations focused on key environmental topics, including local water quality, recycling, wildlife, forestry, and soil science.

Prior to the event, participating EVHS students completed leadership training and worked collaboratively to design age-appropriate lessons for their younger peers. The result was an engaging, student-led experience that encouraged curiosity, exploration, and a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship.

The event provided a dual benefit: elementary students gained early exposure to environmental science concepts while also building connections to their future high school, and EVHS students strengthened their leadership, communication, and instructional skills.

Experiences like this play a critical role in helping students envision their future and see themselves in new academic and leadership settings. By creating opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, Culpeper County Public Schools continues to foster both academic growth and a strong sense of community.

This initiative marks the first program of its kind in Culpeper County, with plans already underway to expand and enhance the experience in the coming years. The EVHS Science Honor Society hopes to continue inspiring a love of science while providing meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for students across the division.
