Preschool Programs

Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI)
The Culpeper County School System participates in the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI), a free preschool program to qualifying students based mainly on economic and educational needs.  Preschoolers must turn four years old on or before September 30 in order to qualify. Programs are housed in the elementary schools and operate on the regular school calendar. Transportation is provided.  Please contact Culpeper County Schools at (540) 825-3677 to learn more about this program.

VPI provides state funds (matched with local funds) to provide quality preschool programs for at-risk four-year old children unserved by Head Start. Early childhood programs in Virginia public schools provide a foundation for learning and academic success. School-readiness activities focus on phonological awareness, vocabulary, number sense and physical, motor and social development.
