October is a busy month at the Phoenix Alternative Education Program! On October 6th, several of our students participated in their first day of the Groundwork Project which is a partnership between Verdun Adventure Bound and Rappahannock Goodwill Industries that offers career readiness and leadership development for at-risk youth. The eight week program uses experiential learning and ropes courses to teach job-seeking skills like resume writing, interviewing, and networking, as well as soft skills such as communication and teamwork.





On October 9th, students enjoyed a skating field trip at the Culpeper Skating Center. Field trips are scheduled quarterly to recognize students' positive behavior, attendance and academic progress.




Phoenix staff, students, and Phoenix adult learners participated in the watershed clean up activity on Oct 17. Last year we were able to fill over twenty large trash bags full of trash from the campus that includes CCHS, CMS, Phoenix and Transportation Dept.
