The 2025–2026 school year is off to a strong start for Phoenix Alternative Education (AE) and the brand-new Phoenix Academy, with students setting ambitious goals, exploring new learning opportunities, and diving into hands-on projects. Soon our students will be involved in a goal writing workshop and will develop their goals; academic, behavior, attendance and a personal goal. This process will help them reflect, focus on areas of growth and provide staff an opportunity to provide feedback and support. In addition to students' classroom learning. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in field trips, community service opportunities, and team building activities.
New this year is the Phoenix Academy, and it is off to a great start too! The Academy’s primary goal is to provide a supportive and flexible learning environment for our middle school students that helps equip them to overcome challenges, achieve academic success, and develop essential social, emotional, and behavioral skills. The Academy is located in a room created by staff that is a comfortable and inviting space where students will receive all of their instruction; teachers rotate through to deliver content four blocks a day. A unique feature of the program is an activity block, called Academy Block at the end of the day. During this block, students will learn to build projects, grow plants, and work together toward shared goals. Through these hands-on activities, students gain valuable life skills such as communication, patience, and teamwork; tools they’ll carry with them well beyond the classroom.
With a strong start, supportive staff, and engaging programs, both Phoenix AE and the Phoenix Academy are ready to make 2025–2026 a year of growth, discovery, and success.
