What began as a creative spark from two passionate teachers grew into a full-blown science celebration during this year’s Rock Your School Week! Inspired by a shared vision to reignite teachers’ “why” and make students excited to come to school each day, the idea quickly expanded into a school-wide transformation, fueled by the enthusiasm and support of school administration.

Classrooms and hallways turned into immersive scientific worlds — from deep-sea adventures and outer space explorations to erupting volcanoes and the wonders of the water cycle. Every corner of the school invited curiosity, creativity, and discovery.

Throughout the week, students conducted hands-on experiments, enjoyed science-themed movie days complete with popcorn, and participated in read-alouds led by administrators and specialists. Guest speakers helped students connect what they were learning to the real world, and the celebration culminated in a high-energy Mad Scientist assembly, where students took part in exciting, make-and-take experiments.

More than just themed fun, Rock Your School Week — inspired by Get Your Teach On’s nationwide initiative — served as a powerful reminder of the joy and wonder that learning can bring. With smiles on faces and excitement in the air, the week rekindled a shared love of teaching, learning, and discovery for everyone involved.

Kengi Mejia, 5th Grade EHES: "I loved Rock Your School Week. It was so much fun. We got to make a bouncy ball and watch live experiments. The best part was that when we came in on Monday, they were playing rock music and all of the hallways and classrooms were decorated with all sorts of science themes."

Lauren Campbell, Kindergarten EHES: "This is the best week ever!
