Culpeper County Public Schools FFA members from Eastern View High School, Culpeper County High School, Floyd T. Binns Middle School, and Culpeper Middle School gathered on the Virginia Tech campus during the 99th Virginia FFA State Convention, June 2025

Culpeper County Public Schools’ Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters from Eastern View High School, Culpeper County High School, Floyd T. Binns Middle School, and Culpeper Middle School made an impressive showing at the 99th Virginia FFA State Convention, held June 9–12, 2025, at Virginia Tech. The event brought together more than 2,000 members statewide for competitions, leadership development, and recognition of outstanding achievements.

Culpeper County High School

Twenty-two members participated in six team events, guided by three advisors. Highlights included:

  • State Officer: Danika Landreth, CCHS Class of 2025, selected as 2025-26 Virginia State FFA Sentinel, one of only seven officers statewide.

  • State Proficiency Winner: Madison Stephens – Agricultural Communication, advancing to national competition.

  • State FFA Degrees: Danika Landreth and Avah Bache.

  • National Chapter Recognition: Gold-Rated Chapter and top Central Area chapter for Growing Leaders.

  • Chapter Award: 100% membership.

  • Team and Individual Honors:

    • Ag Sales – 5th in state; Nicole Saldana 5th individual.

    • Jr. Horse Evaluation – 2nd in state; Melissa Mendez 5th individual, Peyton DeLano 8th.

Eastern View High School

Eastern View sent 13 members and three advisors, earning multiple top honors:

  • State Proficiency Winner: Colton Rowen – Agricultural Sales. Colton will represent Virginia at the National FFA Awards.

  • State FFA Degrees: Colton Rowen, Megan Wolfcale, and Johnny Powers earned the highest state-level honor for leadership, SAE achievement, and community service.

  • National Chapter Recognition: One of only 23 Gold-Rated chapters in Virginia and top chapter in the Central Area; advancing to national judging.

  • Chapter Awards: 100% membership and Silver rating in Public Relations.

  • State LDE Winner: Holly Savage – Agricultural Education, recognized for excellence in lesson planning and teaching.

Floyd T. Binns Middle School

Twenty members attended, competing in Middle School Career and Leadership Development Events. Achievements included:

  • Superior Chapter Award and National Chapter Silver Rating for leadership, service, and agricultural promotion.

  • Creed Speaking: Bouldin Lucas Tapscott – 1st in Central Area, 5th in state.

  • Spanish Creed Speaking: Scarlett Sanchez Torres – 3rd in state.

  • Jr. Agriscience Demonstration: Trinley Robson and Bailey Thornton – State winners.

  • Jr. Horse Evaluation: Robson, Thornton, Susanna Barnhurst, and Cora Husch – State champions.

  • Jr. Horse Hippology: Same team placed 4th in state.

Culpeper Middle School

Seven members, including Bailey Lunceford, Olivia Aylor, Fatima Dasher, Emileigh Hawkins, Kierstyn Carter, and Jilian Buell attended the convention with their advisor, competing in a range of events.

The chapter earned the National Chapter Award – Superior Chapter, recognizing its well-rounded program in leadership, community service, and agricultural education.

Honorary State FFA Degree: Stephanie Emmel was honored with Virginia’s prestigious Honorary State FFA Degree for her exceptional contributions to agricultural education and unwavering support of FFA programs.

CCPS Career and Technical Education Director Randi Richards-Lutz receives the Virginia Honorary State FFA Degree on stage during the 99th Virginia FFA State Convention, June 2025

Mrs. Randi Richards-Lutz, CCPS Career and Technical Education Director, received the Virginia Honorary State FFA Degree, one of the organization’s highest honors for non-members. She was recognized for her outstanding service to agricultural education, including expanding opportunities, building community partnerships, and securing resources that strengthen FFA programs across the division.

Building Leaders for the Future of Agriculture

Across all four schools, CCPS FFA members demonstrated excellence in competition, leadership, and service, earning state and national recognition while building skills that will benefit them for years to come.
