This week in math, Mrs. McFarland's 1st Graders focused on combining shapes to make a new shape. Can you combine 2 triangles to make a square? How about 2 squares to make a rectangle? We also used new vocab words (right angles & vertices) when creating pictures using the shapes.
Pictured are AGR 2nd graders, preparing for tomorrow's Dino tracks field trip at Luck Stone - they are mining as geologists for “gems and minerals”. Students could only use a toothpick and paint brush to avoid damaging their gems. #BulldogPride
To help prepare for their upcoming field trip to Luck Stone to see the dinosaur tracks, AGR 2nd Graders learned about archeologists and paleontologists. Students had a chance to dig for “fossils” and assemble them. Pictured are students from Mrs. Aylor's class.
Check out these awesome authors! Mrs. Childress' 1st grade class wrote a First, Next, Then, and Last story using vocabulary words. The students made up the story all on their own as a class!! They then illustrated each section. They worked hard on this, super proud of them!
Last week, Mrs. McFarland's 1st Graders worked on counting back from 30. Students rolled dice, and then covered that number of chips on the counting board. Then they counted backwards to practice that skill. #BulldogPride
Ms. C's third graders took the math number challenge in teams. We are very good at place value. #BulldogPride
AGR 5th graders in Mr. Hallett's class worked with their kindergarten buddy class in Mrs. Henderson's room. These classes will collaborate through the year. #BulldogPride
Culpeper County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, August 9, 2024 due to the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Debby. In addition, all evening activities scheduled for tonight are canceled.

AGR is so glad to have everyone back, and see all these smiling faces. It was a very smooth start to the day and we are hoping that dismissal is just as smooth. Please be patient as we work to ensure students are safely and properly dismissed.
Mr. Hallett's 5th grade class worked with math specialist, Mrs. Standley, to learn a few things about each other and experiment with folding and flying paper airplanes. Mrs. Standley, Sutton, and Beckett learned that they share grape as their favorite flavor, and the class learned that Mr. Hallett's favorite restaurant is Olive Garden. Congrats to Jessica Empson, whose plane flew the farthest!!
