Welcome to the new Yowell Elementary School (YES) website!  I am honored to have been selected as YES’s first principal.   I am energized to apply all of my professional expertise and experience to create a positive learning environment for all students.  Establishing a legacy of excellence however is not the work of any individual.  From our first class to future generations, I will need the efforts of all teachers, staff, parents, and students to shape a strong foundation that will make all of Culpeper proud. 

A primary element in the success of any school is effective communication.  Although in the early stages of development, we envision this webpage to serve as a key channel of communication within our school community.  I ask that you use it as one avenue to keep up with what we are doing, to track important dates for upcoming events, and to link to SOL support sites plus staff and e-mail addresses - in other words, to make the home/school connection easier.  Our website notices will be made available in Spanish if preferred.  Of course, parents will always be welcome and encouraged to visit in person. 

Yowell Elementary School is dedicated to providing each student with a quality education in an environment that is safe and secure. That quality will present itself in students who leave our school as productive, self-assured and responsible members of society. We want our students to be aware of and appreciate their own individual strengths and traits and how to use them to be the best they can be. By developing a healthy and active learning community made up of parents, staff and students – together we can help our children develop a sense of curiosity, a love of learning, an appreciation for diversity and the desire to reach their highest potential.
