!GREAT YOWELL ELEMENTARY VCR DRIVE!
That old reliable VCR just sitting around collecting dust in your basement, watching anxiously from the sideline as those new age DVD and Blue Ray players steal the show! Now is the time to give Old Reliable a chance for a second life. Yowell Elementary is in need of 50+ VCR players with tuner and RCA outputs (Yellow, Red, and White Cable Jacks) to set up the new WYES Stallion News TV Station. An easy way to tell if your VCR has a tuner is to see if there is a channel up and down button on it or the remote. We are reaching out to the public to ask for donations. While we can not offer monetary compensation, we can give you 670 smiles from the kids who will benefit from your generosity. Every VCR that is donated will save the school over $200 totaling somewhere in the neighbor of $10,000. Donations can be dropped off at the Yowell Elementary School Main Office between the hours of 7:30AM to 4:30PM. Please include your name, address and phone number with your donation in case we are unable to use your donation. We will keep an update of our need on our website www.culpeperschools.org/yes . We appreciate your generosity.

Tips of the Month
This year, the Language Arts and Math Committees have been asked to provide monthly tips/ideas to post on our school website as a resource for parents and students. Each month, we will feature new ideas for our parents and students to explore.
For the month of October, we would like you take a look at the CCPS Parent Website developed by Karie Lane. This website contains many resources including, an idea and tip of the day, suggestions related to a variety of topics concerning parents and students, access to research based articles/information and much more.
Did you know the State of Virginia has math vocabulary for each grade level? Each vocabulary list can be accessed from the CCPS Curriculum Page. Take a look at your child's math vocabulary and challenge yourself to see how often you can use these words in conversation with your child.
