Welcome Back!

 

Welcome back to another great school year at Culpeper Middle School.  I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to all the parents here at CMS.  My name is Amee Kreh and I'm the new PTO president.  My daughter is a sixth grader here at CMS this year and I've been so happy to meet all the teachers and staff here at our school.  Although I am new to CMS, I'm definitely not new to PTOs.  I currently serve as the Vice President at Emerald Hill Elementary and have been on that PTO board for four years.  I look forward to working with the PTO here at CMS this year.  Aside from having the "parent" aspect of the PTO, I also have the "Teacher" view as well, having been a high school English teacher at Fauquier High school for six years.  I hope that we can work to combine the teacher and parent aspect to make the PTO a vehicle from which both groups can get needed support.  We welcome you to attend our next PTO meeting to be held on Monday, Oct. 5th, at 4:15 in the library at CMS!

Here are some things that our PTO is working on that I'd like to make you aware of: 

• We are currently asking parents to donate new, unused bottles of hand sanitizer to the school.  With the H1N1 virus already in our schools, we are trying to be as proactive as possible in preventing the spread of germs.  There is a light blue covered box located just inside the office marked "Hand Sanitizer Collection Box."  Please have your student bring in the hand sanitizer and place in the box.  Our school nurse will collect these each week and give them out to teachers and staff as needed.  We appreciate your willingness to help!
• We are currently ordering more Spiritware.  These items should be available for sale in the office or at the school store in October.  We apologize for the delay and appreciate your understanding as we get adjusted to our new offices here within the PTO.
• We will be having a fall fundraiser.  We are hoping to have the kick-off for this fundraiser in early October with sales running 2-3 weeks the same month.  We will be working with Great American Opportunities this year and are excited to be offering a wide variety of products as well as delicious cookie dough.  Look for more information to be coming home on this great fundraiser in the upcoming weeks.
• I have registered our school with the local grocery stores and will very shortly be providing you with the various school codes for these stores.  So far I have Bloom and Target; for both you need to go to their websites and enter your card number (with Target, it's your Red credit card; with Bloom it's your savings card) and our school code.  Our school code for Bloom is:  #776.  Our school code for Target is: #103530.
