Ancient Rome

 

    This website will help you review what you have learned on Ancient Rome.  As you know, the Roman Empire has made many different contributions to the United States.  The activity below will allow you to review what they have done and to also review for your test!  Be sure to follow the directions below!

Directions:

    A.   Click on the picture of the school to open a printable worksheet, then choose the option OPEN.   When the file opens, click the print button at the top of the page.  After the worksheet prints, click the BACK BUTTON and continue with step B.

     

    B.    Scroll down this page to see a list of questions.  Read each question carefully. Then click on the picture at the end of each question.  You will need to read through the webpage in order to find the answer. 

    C.    After writing your answers on the paper provided, close the window and go on to the next question.  BE SURE TO WRITE YOUR NAME ON EACH SHEET!

    D.  Turn in your paper to your teacher when you are finished! 

     


    Questions:

    1.  Rome is surrounded by a sea on three sides.  What is the name of the sea?  Since there is water on three sides, what do we call Rome?

    2.  The Romans had a government that was like the government used today in the United States.  What is the name of the government?  Give 2 details about that government.

    3.  The Romans made many contributions to the world.  One thing that the Romans invented was concrete.  Name two things that the Romans built with concrete.

    4.  The soil in Rome was not very rich.  This means that the Romans could only grow certain crops.  What were some of these crops?

    5.  The Ancient Romans liked to be entertained.  They would go to the Colosseum to watch certain events.  What happened at these events?

    6.  The Ancient Romans built aqueducts to carry water to the people and the crops they were growing.  What architecture did these aqueducts have that the Romans are famous for inventing?

    7.  The U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. was based on an invention of the Ancient Romans.  What was this invention?  (Be sure to click on both pictures to see the feature and the answer!)
