You’ve been learning a lot about Ancient Greece and the contributions that they’ve made to the United States.  This activity will allow you to review what they have done and to also review for your test!  Be sure to follow the directions below! Have fun!!

Directions:

    A.   Click on the picture of the school to open a printable worksheet, then choose the option OPEN.   When the file opens, click the print button at the top of the page.  After the worksheet prints, click the BACK BUTTON and continue with step B.

     

    B.    Scroll down this page to see a list of questions.  Read each question carefully. Then click on the picture at the end of each question.  You will need to read through the webpage in order to find the answer. 

    C.    After writing your answers on the paper provided, close the window and go on to the next question. 


    Questions:

    1.  What body of water borders Greece on the South and Egypt on the North?
    2.  Many of the citizens of Greece were shipbuilders and also traded their goods with other countries (like Egypt).  Look at the picture and explain why you think that they did this job.
    3.  Why did the farmers of Greece have to grow grapes and olives?
    4.  Ancient Greece was the birthplace of what type of government?  Give at least 2 details that explain this type of government. 
    5.  The people of Ancient Greece built structures that have certain features that people still use today.  What are those features called?  Draw one example of this feature.
    6. The land in Greece is mostly mountains.  This caused trade between different city-states in Greece to be difficult.  Describe an important resource that the Greeks had and what the Greeks could do in order to trade with others.
    7.  The Ancient Greeks have made many contributions to the world.  One such event happens every four years.  What is the name of this event, where in Greece did this event take place, and who did it honor? 
    Bonus:  Look at the list of the different contributions that Greece has made.  Decide which one you think is the most important and explain why you feel this way.
