Culpeper County Public Schools
Preschool Programs

General Information:

Currently, the Culpeper County School Division offers several preschool programs to qualifying students. These programs are funded through various sources and have specific guidelines as to which students qualify for services.  These guidelines are mandated by the federal and state governments.  Telephone numbers and contact persons are listed below by program.

Virginia Preschool Initiative (State-and Locally-Funded Program):

The VPI programs serve students who will turn four on or before September 30 and will be attending kindergarten the following year.  Students attend this full-time preschool program according to the school calendar. Students are taught by a certified teacher who is assisted by a para-educator. Each VPI program serves a maximum of 18 students.  The criteria for qualifying are based on economic need and educational need.   For more information about these programs, please contact Linda Bowers at (540) 825-3677, ext. 3424 or lbowers@culpeperschools.org.

Title I Preschool Program (Federally-Funded Program):

The most economically-needy schools qualify for Title I services.  The Title I preschool program serves students who will turn four on or before September 30 and will be attending kindergarten the following year.  Students attend this full-time preschool program according to the school calendar. They are taught by a certified teacher who is assisted by a para-educator. This program serves a maximum of 16 students. The school must qualify for Title I services.  Students who are at risk of not being prepared for kindergarten are candidates for the program.  For more information about this program, please contact Karie Lane at (540) 825-3677, ext. 3127or klane@culpeperschools.org.

Special Education Preschool Programs (Federally-Funded Programs):
