G.E.D. (General Educational Development) Program

The General Educational Development program is designed for persons who were once enrolled in school, but for various reasons, did not complete the requirements for high school graduation.

Preparation Options

The following options are available for persons who wish to develop or refresh the skills necessary for successful completion of the G.E.D.

Culpeper Literacy Council now offers a Thursday evening connection on line course from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Students still need to call the Literacy Council to register.

Test Information

This examination is divided into the following five sections:

Math, Writing, Reading, Science, and Social Studies

An average score of 450 points per test and an overall score of at least 2250 points is required to pass. The minimum passing score for a test if 410 points; however, the total passing score must still be at least 2250 points. Applicants can retake each test three times per calendar year.

Testing Times - Thursdays and Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on above dates.

Testing Location- Culpeper School Board Office located at 450 Radio Lane, Culpeper

Registration Information

Listed below are items needed to register for the G.E.D.

	Picture ID - Driver's License, passport, or Military ID
	Social Security Number-Social Security Card or Pay Stub
	Money Order for $35.00 or $7.00 per test, plus an additional $8.50 for first time testers, made payable to CCPS; first time testers will pay a total of $43.50.
	If the applicant is under the age of 18, he or she must have a Virginia G.E.D. program testing eligibility exception completed and signed by the Superintendent or Designee of the applicant's school district.
	If the applicant is home schooled he or she must have a transcript or report card from his or her home school.
