Guidance Office

Home

The guidance and counseling program provides services for students which facilitate the academic success of the students. Emphasis is on identification of the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical characteristics of the student.

The Office of Guidance Services seeks to establish a favorable climate in which student potentials can be developed, and in which difficulties can be overcome. Counselors coordinate efforts with classroom teachers, administrators, and their personnel associated with the educational process to help provide an environment conducive to learning.

Text Box: Law Enforcement Career Day, - March 26, 2010 @ 10:00 a.m.

Many of our new students have expressed an interested in law enforcement careers.  In response to that need, we are planning a Law Enforcement Career Day, March 26, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., in the student lounge at the Locust Grove Campus of Germanna Community College. I would like to extend an offer to your students who are considering law or administration of justice as a career to attend. We are planning on hosting a number of law-related careers including local police/sheriffs, corrections, security companies, state police, law enforcement training academies, U.S. Secret Service, FBI and others.  We are also inviting a couple of local universities we work with on a regular basis which also offer the administration of justice four year degree. Unfortunately, we will have to limit the number of students we can accept from each high school in our containment area to 10.  If you are interested in attending this event please let me know so I can add you to my planning cycle.  Thank you for considering this event, and I look forward to future events.

Room 411 will also be open for parents to meet with counselors to learn to use the parent portal in order to complete student registration.  We are going online this year!

Concurrently (At 6:30PM.) we will also hold our annual AP/Honors/DE meeting for parents in the library where our ITL's and Mrs. Place will point out the differences in levels and the type of students that should pursue these levels. They will also go over expectations and work loads. Parents of all CCHS students will be invited to attend and then they may attend the fair at the conclusion of this special program.  They are usually released at 7 PM.
