Welcome from our Principal

Hello, I’m Rob Hauman, Principal of Emerald Hill Elementary School, home of the Eagles!  It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new EHE website.  We hope you can use this site to become more familiar with our school and its goals, our events, our students, and links for supporting SOLS (Standards of Learning).
Emerald Hill is a Pre-K through 5th grade elementary school of more than 880 students from Northern Culpeper County, Virginia.  At Emerald Hill, our mission is to develop lifelong learners in a safe learning environment.
Emerald Hill Elementary is fully accredited by the state of Virginia and by SACS, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Our faculty and staff have developed a plan for continued school improvement between 2005 and 2010. The goals in this plan call for an examination of practices and continuous professional development for improvement in the areas of: Reading, Math, Writing, and Technology usage.
Here at Emerald Hill we have a diverse faculty with both experienced, veteran staff and eager beginning teachers.  We try to be serious about our teaching, but we try to have fun doing it. Our teachers are supported not only by their teams and highly qualified paraprofessionals, but also by a large base of parent volunteers.
Our PTO is a strong group of supportive parents that work very hard to provide for the school and its students.  The PTO provides volunteers for a variety of activities; they provide financial support for our Homework Agendas, for field trips, and for special requests from teachers.  The PTO’s big event is the annual Fun Fair in March.  This is a night for families to come out to school with the kids, play some carnival games, to visit with friends and neighbors and to have a good time.
Coming this spring, my administrative team and the guidance department plan to bring back the popular “Moms N’ Muffins” and “Dads N’ Donuts” events.  These early morning events are opportunities for students and parents to share a quick morning snack while chatting with teachers, principals and counselors.
While in some cases, school policies are difficult to understand, at Emerald Hill, we believe we can meet the challenges of being a very large school and the best can be accomplished for our students by working cooperatively with parents and community members. I encourage parents to feel free to visit or email Mrs. Wootten, Mr. Timmons or myself to discuss questions, concerns or even compliments!
I wish you the very best for 2007 and thank you for visiting our new website.

                                                                                             Sincerely,
                                                                                                Rob Hauman, Principal
