Scholarship Information

College Planning - Learn how to use library resources for: Career Exploration, Researching Colleges, Financial Aid and the Admissions Processes. These programs are presented by Corey Fischer for the Library. Ms. Fischer is a Certified Educational Planner and owner of College Clarity, LLC. These programs are offered free of charge, but you must register because we provide free handouts. Call Culpeper County Public Library at 540-825-8691 to register.
  • The Granville P. Meade Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically, but who are financially unable to attend college. The Granville P. Meade fund provides scholarship awards to worthy and needy Virginia high school seniors to attend one of Virginia’s public or private colleges or universities. In the past, each scholarship was in the amount of $2,000 per year for four years, provided the student continues to meet the scholarship requirements.  Applications are available in the scholarship notebook by Mrs Fought's desk.  Completed applications must be returned to Ms Bramley by March 3.  The finalist's application will be submitted by the central office.
     
    The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship provide financial assistance to students who have achieved academically and show promise of continued outstanding academic achievement. Graduating seniors of public and private secondary schools, and those who have the equivalent of a high school diploma, are eligible for the Byrd Honors Scholarship Program. The applicants must have demonstrated and show promise of continued outstanding academic achievement.  The scholarships, at $1,500 each, will be awarded for a period of not less than one or more than four years during the first four years of study at an eligible institution of higher education.
    Applications are available in the scholarship notebook by Mrs Fought's desk.  Completed applications must be returned to Ms Bramley by April 1.  The finalists' applications will be submitted by the central office.


American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship:  National winners receive up to $18,000.  The award is based on a 3-5 minute oratorical presentation on an assigned topic.  A representative of the local American Legion Post has additional information.  Rules packets are available in the counseling reception office.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship Program: For student who have MS or who have a parent with MS.  Awards are generally between $1,000 and $3,000.  Based on academic record, leadership, work experience educational and career aspirations, need, essay and compelling personal or family circumstances.  Application and information is available at nationalMSsociety.org/scholarship or by calling 1-800-344-4867.
Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Scholarship:  This scholarship is for a Virginia resident who attends the University of Michigan to pursue a degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or another related scientific field.  The award is for $80,000 over four-years.  Information is available  at www.bellscholarship.org or by contacting John O’Grady, Trustee at (804)775-1023.
Virginia Latino Higher Education Network Scholarship: This is a one-year scholarship for students of Hispanic/Latino heritage who live in Virginia.  The applicant must have a 2.8 or higher GPA (unweighted).  Applications are available at www.valhen.org/scholarship.


Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honor students for exemplary community service. State honorees receive $1,000, an engraved medallion and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC for several days in May. National honorees additional $5,000 awards, gold medallions and crystal trophies for their school or organization. The also receive $5,000 grants to the nonprofit charitable organization of their choice. Information and applications are available online at http://spirit.prudential.com.
